Goa Carnival 2015 event was held in Goa to dazzle with colors, costumes, foot-tapping music and soul stirring extravaganza. Goa carnival 2015 was scheduled from 14 to 17 February 2015. This time, the fun-filled, four-day event coincided with the Valentine’s Day weekend as the themes was revolved around ‘Cupid and Love’.

Goa Carnival is based on Christian tradition that was brought to Goa in 1510 by the Portuguese. The Goa carnival is celebrated every year for four days. Goa Carnival is the most awaited event in Goa, preparations for which start from December itself. Other than music, dance and other entertainment, the carnival in Goa also features short plays depicting the tradition and culture of Goa in a unique way.
Geovani Bosco Santimano was selected as ‘King Momo’ for Goa Carnival 2015 and had lead the parades in Panaji, Margao, Vasco and Mapusa at Goa Carnival 2015, which was held during February 14-17. Santimano was selected as King Momo by an event management agency through a contest in which 13 candidates had applied.
57-year-old Santimano is a senior officer at the Indian Revenue Service (IRS) and is from Colva in Goa. He was the 1st prize winner at Goa Carnival float in 1998 and the 2nd prize winner in 2003.
The Goa carnival event combines fiestas of diverse cultures, religions and beliefs. The climax of carnival is a colorful parade which includes giant presentations, floats, dance and various music.
