The whole temple of Jagannath is decorated with flowers and lights. A big rangoli is made in front of temple. Lord Jagannath, Balaram and Subhadra are dress with gold jewelry. The chariots in which the god is taken is decorated. The three chariots of god is pulled by more than 1000 devotees. 20 elephants are dress in decorative clothes. Trucks are also taken in rathyatra.

The “Pahind Vidhi” is done by the Anandiben Patel the Chief Minister of Gujarat. The rathyatra starts in early morning and ends in the evening.  On the day of rathyatra khichdi is given in Prasad. 15000 policemen including 36 IPS officer have been appointed. 60 to 70 videographs are called in the rathyatra. Pandits and sandhus are in a large numbers for doing puja or vidhi. All caste of people is there to enjoy the rathyatra.

In Rathyatra Bhajan mandali, Ras garba and bands are also taken. This festival is celebrated because lord Jagannath is returning from his maternal uncle’s house after a long time. Throughout the year devotees come to the temple for darshan but on this day Lord Jagannath himself goes out to meet his devotees. Devotees wear clothes of white and saffron to participate in yatra. All the people enjoy whole day and feels very peaceful.
