Amongst the many monumental beauties of Vadodara, one of the most magnificent is Sayaji Baug. Sayaji Baug, a garden which was famously dedicated to the people of Vadodara by Maharaja Sayajirao Gaekwad III in 1879. This place is famously known as Kamati Baug.
Attractions of Kamati Baug
Not just a garden, the place stands tall with the uniqueness of being the largest garden in Western India, stretching over 113 acres. Kamati Baug holds in its belly many attractions like being home to a very rich variety of flora and fauna, with more than 98 species of trees. Not just the gardens, but the place is very well known for the famous Kamati Baug Museum and Picture Gallery, Sardar Patel Planetarium which is also a major crowd puller attracting all ages.
Kamati Baug Zoo Vadodara
The most exciting aspect of these lush gardens is Sayaji Baug Zoo, which houses varied species of different birds, 167 types of 1103 animals, Asiatic lions being the most popular of the attractions. Gaekwad Dynasty also gave an entertaining gift of Toy Train in the garden premises, which is for giving panoramic view of the garden to children below the age of 12 years and covers a periphery of 3.5 kms. In addition to all these, amongst many attractions, there is a Floral Clock having hour, minute and seconds hand that move on the 20 ft (6.1 m) diameter dial.
