Anil last directed Dil Kabaddi 2008, which featured Irrfan Khan, Rahul Bose, Soha Ali Khan and Konkana Sen Sharma. The movie failed at the box-office. Scene then, Anil has been working on his dream-project tentatively titled A for Apple, B for Billi, and C for Cutta. He narrated the script to SRK, who liked it and agreed to do the film.
