Highness Jam Ranjitsinhji commenced the construction of 'Ranjit Sagar' dam but was done only in 1938 during the rule of His Highness Jam Digvijaysinhji, the last ruler of this princely state of Jamnagar. History of Ranjit Sagar Dam Foundation stone for this dam was laid by His Highness, King of Bikaner, and Sir Gangasinhji and hence was named 'Ganga Sagar' after him. But for reasons unknown was later named as 'Ranjit Sagar' dam.
Ranjit Sagar Dam is very famous dam also Level up by 8 ft at in Jamnagar district. Ranjit Sagar Dam was constructed on this river in 1938. Creating tourist spot around Ranjit Sagar Dam is great idea indeed. I wish tourism department doesn’t label it as tourist spot only on papers but genuinely work on developing this site as tourist spot.
