History of Sri Aurobindo Ashram in Vadodara

Sri Aurobindo Nivas was a private bungalow constructed in 1890 in Vadodara. Sri Aurobindo was born in Calcutta on 15 August 1872. Sri Aurobindo had lived for 14 years in Baroda.

Sri Aurobindo Ashram Baroda was constructed using red bricks and mortar. Sri Aurobindo Ashram was 22 years old in Baroda. Sri Aurobindo Nivas Vadodara has 23 big and small rooms and surrounding open land of about 55,000sq.ft.

Sri Aurobindo House is then called ‘Arvind Nivas’, which has been developed as a national memorial to him and is being maintained by Sri Aurobindo Society Baroda.

Guest House Facilities of housing is provided to the guests visiting Nivas from outstation and who are connected with the work of Sri Aurobindo.

Yogasana Classes have been conducted by the Society since 1979 and hundreds of people from different walks of life and of different age groups are taking its advantage every year.
