AMC (Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation) is initiating a very aggressive awareness campaign with the help of State government agencies and non-government during Ganesh Mahotsav to keep water sources of Ahmadabad free of Pollution.  Immersion of Ganesh idols during Ganesh Visarjan is a big pollution hazard, AMC has therefore appealed the residents of the city to participate and prevent pollution. AMC has fixed and declared six spots for immersion of idols on the last day of Mahotsav:

·         Keshavnagar in Sabarmati

·         Gujri Bazaar – Lokmanya Tilak Baug

·         Flower Market – Jamalpur

·         Hansol – Indira Bridge

·         Subhash Bridge

·         Karnavati Hospital – Vivekanand Bridge

Civic Body along with Gujarat Pollution Control Board (GCPB) and EcoSarjan (Non Government Organisation) have planned the entire Ganesh Idol immersion Program requesting devotees to collect flowers used for pooja  as  Green Waste suitable for making manure. Devotees have been appealed to use natural materials as clay and natural colors to make idols instead of plaster of Paris and bio-degradable material for decorations and smaller idols.  AMC will create 24 artificial ponds at 18 places for Ganesh Visarjan in Ahmedabad :

To make this drive effective AMC has also organized the Best Ganpati Idol contest.
