Surat the city of “Diamonds” and “fly Overs” is the fourth fastest developing city of India.  Surat city celebrates biggest GaneshVisarjan festival in the state of Gujarat.

Surat District administration is highly concerned about the safety and accident free environment during GaneshVisarjan in Surat.  Ten artificial ponds have been created by the Civic Body for immersion of Plaster of Paris (PoP) Ganesh Idols.  However, clay Ganesh idols will be immersed at 33 Ovaras of Tapi River.  About 45,000 Ganesh idols

(8077 bi g idols) will be immersed with spectators of about more than 20 lakhs hitting on the streets to see off their beloved God.  800 CCTV cameras at various locations in Surat are placed to keep watch on every minute activity of the Visarjan for security reasons due to Al Qaida threat.  The Ganesh Visarjan is so well secured and planned that 3,500 police force has been arranged along with 4,200 home-guards, with 10 companies of State Reserve Police Force (SRPF) and Rapid Action Force (RAF) for the safety of Surat city.   Life saving experts , flood lights, cranes etc. , are placed at the site of artificial ponds so that the people of Surat are not in-convenienced in any way.  It is rightly justified that Surat city was awarded “Best City” by the Annual Survey of India’s City-Systems (ASICS) in 2013.

Ganesh Utsav Samiti has appealed to the people of Surat to maintain peace with law maintaining authorities and not to pollute Tapi River.

Civic Authorities, Surat Municipal Corporation, Police Force, and the people of Surat have made the Diamond City glitter and shine even if it is an occasion like Ganesh Visarjan!
