Google Launched ANDROID ONE Platform with Smartphone Manufacturers in India
Google announced its Android One platform on 15th September, 2014 in India. They are targeting the low-end or small budget smart phones segment in rising markets like India. The Android One is launched specially for price-conscious users in emerging markets.
By launching a line of smart phones that cost around $100(INR 6000), Google has opened the Smartphone market to a new segment of lower-income customers who want to own a Smartphone with the latest software and apps. This Android One presents a very good opportunity for Google to capture market share. Google will sell three smartphone manufactured by Micromax, Spice and Karbonn. Micromax is the leading smartphone manufacturer in India.
The Android One phone has a front 5 MP camera and rear 2 MP camera, dual sim slots, a replaceable battery, 1 GB RAM and 1.3 GHz quad-core MediaTek Processor. About few quarters, Google’s revenue growth has slowed down so by this Android One Google is looking to cover 20% about android users that will create path for Google with increase in search queries and google app store search.
Google will start selling of this Android One smart phone from December in India and after that they are looking for other emerging countries. It has also included new partners including Acer, Alcatel OneTouch, HTC, Asus and Lenovo, along with Indian brands like Xolo, Lava and Intex to bring in devices with various specifications across price points.
