Gujarat Wide ‘ABHAYAM’ 181 Helpline for Women in 2015

GVK EMRI in association with Government of Gujarat has launched 181 – Abhayam Women Helpline in Gujarat in 2014. The helpline has been launched in collaboration with the women and child welfare and home departments.

Recently, on 4th February 2015 Abhayam 181 Helpline completed 1 year and on that occasion GVK EMRI’s Chief Operating Officer Jaswant Prajapati declared to make this helpline available for whole Gujarat area. For the first year this Abhayam helpline was available in only Ahmedabad, Surat and Gandhinagar.

In the 1 year if Abhayam Helpline activation, there were 5133 calls from Ahmedabad, 3242 calls from Surat and 669 calls from Gandhinagar  made for help in various cases. Now soon this 181 helpline will be available in all cities of Gujarat so that many women can be helped in any threatening condition/situation.

181 Abhayam Helpline will be active with rescue van, trained team and latest technological instruments so that domestic violence and any other cases can be stopped and women can live safely.

GVK EMRI in collaboration with Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS) has developed Technical support for operational protocols.

The 24×7 helpline -181- is a toll-free number to support woman in distress and is accessible through any mobile or landline. Any women can access 181 “Abhayam” helpline for the purpose of counseling, guidance, information and also for the rescue in various threatening situations including domestic violence.
