World Kidney Day is celebrated every year on 2nd Thursday of March month. World Kidney day celebration starts from year 2006. WKD is a joint initiative of the International Society of Nephrology (ISN) and the International Federation of Kidney Foundations (IFKF).

On the World Kidney day, many hospitals, NGOs and trusts are organizing medical camp for kidney check up.  Free health check up and kidney disease awareness programs are organized.  The campaign is celebrated every year on the second Thursday of March in more than 100 countries on 6 continents.

This holiday was intended to raise awareness about afflictions of the kidney; although many are treatable, they are a secondary medical concern of the greater population.
