AUSTRALIA won ICC Cricket World Cup 2015 on 29th March - Fifth Time World Champion
Finally the ICC World Cup 2015 final match is won by Australia and Australian team had won their fifth World Cup in the last 8 World Cup Tournaments. Australia Vs New Zealand Final Match was held in Melbourne Cricket Ground, Melbourne, Australia on 29th March 2015.
The record break crowded final match was won by Australia by beating New Zealand by 7 wickets. New Zealand had won the toss and chose to bat first but at the fifth ball of the match they lost Brandon McCullum. Grant Elliott bated well with 83 runs but New Zealand team could just score only 183 runs.
The Australian fast bowlers Mitchell Starc, Mitchel Johnson and James Faulkner shared 8 wickets. Australia chased the easy target of 184 runs with the loss of 3 wickets in 33.1 overs with Captain Michael Clarke’s 74 and Steve Smith’s 56 runs.
Australian Captain Michael Clarke was given standing ovation as he has declared retirement from ODI matches after World Cup Final match. No other team has won more than 2 world cup nut Australian team won the tournament for the fifth time.
Mitchell Starc ended the ICC World Cup 2015 tournament with the best ever World Cup bowling average 22 wickets at 10.18. New Zealand’s Martin Guptill surpassed Sri Lankan Kumar Sangakkara's 541 runs to become the tournament's leading run-getter when he reached 10, but he managed to add just five runs more.
James Faulkner became the Man of the Match for his 3 wickets in 36 runs. Mitchell Starc won the Man of the Series trophy for his outstanding performance with 22 wickets. This is the record that apart from India, only Australia is the team who has won the World Cup on their Home ground. India won the World Cup 2011 in Mumbai and Australia once again won the World Cup trophy at their Home ground on Melbourne.
