Meaning of Orange Cap in IPL – Orange Cap Award in Indian Premier League Cricket Matches
Indian Premier League or popularly known as IPL is a T20 cricket league in India. IPL first season was played in the year 2008. IPL is a very big tournament in terms of money and prizes given to the players. On the day of final match of every IPL season, the winning prizes and awards are given to the players.
At the end of every IPL tournament, along with winning prizes there are some other awards also given including Purple Cap, Orange Cap, Most Sixes, Catch of the season, Emerging Player of the Season, Most Valuable Player, etc. Purple Cap and Orange Cap name seems interesting like its award category.
Meaning of Orange Cap in IPL :
Orange Cap award or Orange Cap is given to the batsman who has scored the highest runs in the current IPL season. Orange cap award can be named as the Batsman of the tournament. The Orange cap winner player will have the honour of wearing the orange cap on the field.
At the end of the IPL season, the holder Player of the Orange Cap will get the honour of being called the Winner of the Orange Cap and he will receive recognition on the final day of IPL season. In the case of a tie between two players, the Orange Cap winner Player is determined by checking least balls faced by the player in the IPL.
IPL Orange Cap Design :
Orange cap is a cap with orange color and having name of award in the golden name plate on it. In IPL season 7 2014 Kolkata Knight Riders team’s Robin Uthappa has won the IPL Orange cap award for his outstanding performance with 660 runs with 5 half centuries. KKR team is also the winner of IPL season 7 2014.
Orange Cap award in IPL season needs to record performance of batsman after every match so it boosts up the IPL players to play more beautifully next time.
