Kabirvad Bharuch Gujarat India - Kabirvad Banyan Tree Gujarat
Kabirvad Information
Kabirvad is a small religious place located just 15 KMs away from Bharuch. The name has a very interesting story behind it. Apparently, Kabir, the poet and saint brushed his teeth with a ‘datun’ on the banks of river Narmada and threw it here. The datun or the stick used to do so was carelessly left at this place. Thus from a single stick, there came a Banyan Tree.
Kabirvad History
Another story doing the rounds is that Kabir meditated under the Banyan tree and therefore it never grew old. In fact, it kept on multiplying. And even today, there are many trees which are said to be born out of that single tree. The area of the entire plants is close to 2.5 hectares. The main tree is one of the Oldest Banyan Tree in India.
According to people, the tree is supposed to be more than 600 years old. There are other places to see and visit as well such as Kabir museum and the lotus shaped temple dedicated to the saint. The most ironic thing about the temple is that there is an idol of the saint depicting the saint was absolutely against idol worship. You can also enjoy the boat ride in the river Narmada. There is another place nearby called Shukla Tirth, which is about 5 to 6 KMs away from Kabirvad. People who visit this place also visit Shukla Tirth for its splendid temples of many Hindu Gods and Deities.
