Jaya Parvati Vrat is mostly celebrating in Gujarat by young Girls and married womans. This Vrat is observed in Ashada Maas by unmarried girls and married women in Gujarat and some other Western India parts. Jaya Parvati Vrat is observed for five days by fasting. This Vrat will be observed by Girls for 5, 7, 9 or 11 years and some of them do the fast Vrat after her marriage at her in-laws house.

Jaya Parvati Vrat is for worship Goddess Gauri (Parvati) in Ashadh Mass, sometomes it’s also called Gauri Vrat. Jayaparvati Vrat katha is associated with a Brahmin woman who observed this vrat to get her husband free from his curse (was not really a curse). So, for the reason the divine couple Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati is worshipped during this Vrat. One the observation, found womans can not eating salt and vegetables with the believe that girls who observing the Jaya Parvati Vrat will bless with the Good Husband.
During the Vrat, Womans are kept wheat seeds (Javara) in a small pot and go to the Lord Shiva Temple with this Planted seeds and Pujapo (Having flowers, Abil, Gulal, Kanku, Nagla, Kamal Kakdi, fragrance sticks, Javara) for Puja / Prayer Purpose. Womans are go to the temple by wearing beautiful dresses / sarees and with mehndi designs.

Womens or Kuvarika do puja with spread Abil, Gulal, Kanku and Flowers to the planted Javara and pray for the good future husband. On the last Day, the woman observed the fast have to remain awake whole night of the fifth day called as jagran. Whole night womans are celebrating Jagaran by playing Games, gossips, watching movie and roaming outside.
On the next day, they break the fast after praying the Goddess Parvati and immersed planted Javara to the nearest Holy River. Now, they can eat Full meal and in this way they complete the Jaya Parvati Vrat. |
