Ghelo River in Jasdan Hill Gujarat - Ghela Rivar Information Details and Photos
The Ghelo River origins from Jasdan Taluka hills region and meets in the Arabian Sea. River Ghela flows from the Gadhada town Gujarat. The length of it is 118 km and 622 Sq.kms catchment areas. Ghelo Somnath and Ghelo Itaria dams are located on the Ghelo River catchment area of 60 Sq.kms and 104 Sq.kms.
A famous Shree BAPS Swaminaryan Temple is there on the bank of the Ghelo River. Swaminarayan followers believes that Lord Swaminaryan has taken bath many times in the the River Ghela. The Rishi Mandavya has done mediation in the jungle of the Fulzar forest near Ghela Somnath.
Mandavya Muni had done meditation for more many years for the Holy Ganga to appear so that he can bath. Ganga did not appear directly there and after that he started severe penance for the god Vamana. The Vamana hear the workship of the Mandavya Muni and kick the earth so the Ganga appears. Ganga appeared and Ghelo River is also known as Unmat Ganga.
The Ghela River gives the water to the nearby cities and villages. The river is very important source for the people living there because they get water for daily use. The river overflows in the rainy season and new water comes in the river. |
