Baba Pyare Caves in Junagadh Gujarat - Buddhist Caves History Information and Photos
Baba Pyare Caves are located in Junagadh district Gujarat India. It is built in the period from 1st–4th Century. The cave is located on the eastern side of Junagadh District. This cave is in groups and the Baba Pyare Caves is one of it. The other of Baba Pyare Caves is Baba Pyaras. It is situated near to Modhimath Junagadh. The construction of it is done in the rule of Satavahana.
The Satavahana Empire was of Indian Ruler. After the Mauryan Empire they have created peace in India in their rule. The Baba Pyare Caves Junagadh is an ancient pattern carved by man-made. The cave is of the Buddhism. The Baba Pyare Caves is very antique cave in the Indian history. The cave has a Chaitya- Griha means a prayer hall.
An English James Burgess the Indian Antiquary founder and Archaeologist have taken a visit of the cave. He was following both Buddhism and Jainism. He told that Baba pyare caves are made for the Buddhist monks and afterwards it was taken by Jain. The Buddhist monks are the people who have left their house and live the simple life by taking alms for their livelihood.
James Burgess has seen writing on the rock of the cave related to the Jain because they use this inscription in their life. The inscription was "केवलज्ञान संप्राप्तानां जीतजरामरणानां ” which Jainism people speak.The word Kevalgyan means that they have achieved all the Knowledge in their life. They can know the things of past, present and future of any one because by doing meditation they have reached on that level of the facts. Meditation has given salvation in their life.
The Baba Pyare Caves Junagadh was given to the Janisim due to symbols related to the Jainism was founded on the gate of the cave by the H.D.Sankalia. He has also seen symbols of the Darpan, Meen Yugal, Swastika, Purna Ghata and Nandhyavarta. |
