Hiran River is situated in the Gir Forest Junagadh near Sasan Hills. It comes in the western side of Gujarat India. It origins from the Gir Forest and at last meets in the Arabian Sea. The length of the Hiran River is 40 kms. The catchment area of it is 518 Sq.kms. Hiran 1 and Hiran 2 dams are located on the Hiran River. The dams are having an area of the 81 Sq. kms and catchment area is 349 Sq.kms.
The Gir Reserve Forest in Junagadh is located near it. The Hiran I and Hiran II dams are west flowing rivers of Saurashtra. The height of the Hiran Dam I is 26.21 and length is 1304.6. Height of the Hiran Dam II is 24.4 and length is 3107.85. Junagadh District and Talala & Veraval are the taluka of it.
Hiran River has tributaries like Ambakhoi Stream and Saraswati River near the Talala Taluka. It is ver important part of the Gir forest and Wildlife Ecological System. Hiran 1 is also known as Kamleshwar Dam. The major project of the Hiran River is Umrethi Dam. The biodiversity of forest is maintained through the Hiran River Junagadh.
