Where is Jambughoda Wildlife Sanctuary?

Jambughoda Wildlife Sanctuary is located near Vadodara city. Precisely, the area falls under the Panchmahal district of Central Gujarat, with area around 131 sq.km. Jambughoda being well connected with Vadodara enjoys a large number of visitors every year, who get carried away by its breathtaking beauty and elaborate variety of flora and fauna. Jambughoda sanctuary today stands in the region, which was once the princely state of Jambughoda before independence. The sanctuary was established by the initiative of Rajiv Gandhi in year 1990.

Jambughoda Waterfall

Jambughoda is a magnificent forest of teak, bamboo and other miscellaneous species of trees and other vegetation plants and herbs. The sanctuary is also decorated by two water reservoirs - one at Targol Dam and other at Kada Dam, which add to the aesthetic settings.

Jambughoda Wildlife Sanctuary

Leopard is the most prominent in this region and its population has been steadily increasing all these years. The other animals who share this habitat are sloth bear, jackal, blue bull, wild boar and horned antelopes. This area also plays home to many venomous and non-venomous snakes like cobra, russell’s viper and many more.

While, the specialties of flora includes variety of trees of sag, shisham, khair, mahuda trees laden with sweet flowers, bamboos, dhav, bor and many more of such exclusive varieties.

The Beauty and Serenity

The sanctuary is surrounded by a full cover of hills, which has a thick forest cover along with some tribal settlements as well. Nearby interesting places to visit are Kada dam, Targol and Jhund Hanuman temple. There is a beautiful resort named Caravan Sarai, where tourists flock for adventure, fun and leisure, with camping, trekking and rappelling being the prominent activities.
