Singer Sonu Nigam Launch Yash Raj Films 6 Pack Band - First Transgender Band of India
Yash Raj Films has launched a 6 Pack Band which is India's first transgender band. The band has six musicians from the transgender community Mumbai. Singer Sonu Nigam launched Y-Film's transgender music group 6 Pack Band. The six members of the band were taken from a group of around 200 who had auditioned for it.
Sonu Nigam Indian playback singer supported the transgender community. He has sung many songs for movies and also has launched album song. Sonu has won Best Male Playback Singer, Global Indian Music Award for Best Live Performer and many other awards for his singing.
The 6 Pack Band comprises six transgender singing original songs and a cover version of Grammy-winner Pharrell Williams' hit "Happy” Song of Titled 'Hum Hai Happy'. The youth wing of Yash Raj Films - YFilms led by Ashish Patil is the brain behind the formation of this band. Music composer Shameer Tandon is the project curator who is composing music for the band, who said they chose the popular "Happy" song to launch the band as English songs have a wider reach.
Bollywood Actor and Producer Anushka Sharma, who introduces the band in their music video, said in a statement: “I believe that all living beings should be treated with the same respect and dignity. This song is one way to get everyone to tune in to that one thought and beat. Because often where words fail, music speaks.”
The Bollywood star has lent his voice to one of the songs of the group. Sonu said he had a great experience singing with the band because they are singing all the time my songs and I have received good vibrations from it and really enjoyed their innocence and child-like energy.
Yash Raj Films - Y-Films to help further the cause of gender equality in India. Sonu Nigam said that initiative to offer the community a platform is not a ‘social service’ but a ‘game-changer’ in the entertainment industry.
