Verakhadi Anand Gujarat
Verakhadi village lies at an approximate distance of 20 kms from Anand, Gujarat and is in the ravines of river Mahi. This spot plays as a host to several points, which are known for their serene and pure beauty.
Owing to its prominent location, very near to the NH-8 Bridge on Mahi near Vasad, it provides a beautiful view of river from the nearby hills. Moreover, the eastern banks of river Mahi holds a tiny but pleasant beach with sand and people can go in for boat rides or enjoy their leisure time on the beach.
Holy Matrimony of the waters:
Vehrakhadi plays host to the coming together of great Mahi Sagar River on the North, Narmada on the South and Arabian sea bringing in its salty waters from the Western front. Legend holds it that this is where, the river and the sea are said to be bound in a matrimonial union and since long, the place is marked as their union point. There is a boat shaped marriage pavilion created by the locals of the area for the ceremonial marriage between the river and sea while the actual commingle is said to be at the Gulf of Cambay.
The Beliefs:
The locals are said to offer silver foiled limbs to Mother River, so that she blesses them and all their ills are cured. The temples in the vicinity see offerings of chundadi - the marriage red head-dress of river Mahi as is believed to be worn by any virgin girl for getting married.
