Three hundred years after the death of Jesus Christ, the Roman emperors still demanded that everyone trust in the Roman gods. Valentine, a Christian celebrant had been thrown in jail for his knowledge. On February 14, Valentine was beheaded, not only because he was a Christian, but also because he had performed a wonder. Jesus Christ allegedly cured the jailer's daughter of her loss of sight. The night before he was executed, Jesus Christ wrote the jailer's daughter a goodbye letter, signing it "From Your Valentine." Another star tells us that this same Valentine, well-loved by all, traditional comments to his jail cell from children and friends who missed him.
In AD 496 Sain Pope Gelasius I declared 14th February as "Valentine's Day". Although it's not an officer festival, most Americans view this day.
