Four Indian National Award Winning Movies to be screened at Cannes Film Festival
Four Regional Films, those who has received National Award this year has been selected by official Indian Delegation for screening in the Cannes Film Festival 2018 which is about to start on 8th May 2018 and end on 19th May 2018.
Four 65th National Award Winning Movies includes Village Rockstars (Asami Film), Bhayanakam (Malayalam Film), Sinjar (Lakshadeep Film) and Nagar Kirtan (Bengali Film) are selected for screening.
In 1946, ‘Neecha Nagar’ directed by Chetan Anand was the first ever Indian Film to be screened in Cannes Film Festival. Smriti Irani will lead Delegation to promote Indian Cinema at Cannes for the first time in years. Her team includes Ashok Kumar Parmar, Vinod K Jacob, Prasoon Joshi, Vani Tripathi Tikoo, Shaji n Karun, Jahnu Varua, Bharat Bala and Parvathy.
This is an attempt to take Indian cinema to the next level and represent it globally. These Movies are specifically selected to bring them into the spotlight which is very difficult to achieve by themselves. This National Award Winning Movies made in diverse languages have immense potential.
For Bollywood Movies to get featured in Cannes is a very easy task but for Regional Movies like these needs the push. The Idea is to provide equal representation for the Films of different languages. Due to lack of time and space it was only possible for the accommodation of four Movies this year and hence best of the best movie has been selected for Cannes Film Festival. |
