Aji Dam Rajkot Overflow in 2013
Aji Dam Garden Rajkot is a popular attraction in Rajkot located at 8 km from the city, in its border. This place is maintained by Rajkot Municipal Corporation. The Name Aji is derived from a Sanskrit word meaning mother. The Dam was built by the Government of Gujarat. The Dam built across Aji River, most important river of Saurashtra and also the main water source for
entire city.
26th September 2013, around 11.30 am in the dark monsoon morning and there was heavy Rain fall in Rajkot city has suffered lot. In few locations, water reaches in house and flats basement. And hence people need to relocated, to their relatives and families home. Apart from this Bhadar Dam, Nyari Dam on River Nyari, Aji Dam 2 on River Aji also got full water as on 26thSeptember 2013 Aji Dam overflow.
Aji River is one the main river of saurashtra Gujarat State. It is called life line of Rajkot City and separates Rajkot in east-west parts. One of the major sources of drinking water for the Rajkot city has started to Aji Dam Rajkot overflow. Aji dam another source of drinking water for the city was on the border of overflowing.
