Company Profile : Dr. Prakash G. Modha the founder of Gokul Group passed MBBS from M. P. Shah Medical College, Jamnagar in 1976 and completed his internship in December 1977. Following this he was a House Officer in General Surgery from Jan. to Aug. 1978 at H. N. Hospital and from Sept. to Dec. 1978 at LTMGH & LTMMC. Later on he was the Registrar in Neurosurgery Department at LTMGH & LTMMC from Jan. - Dec.1979. From Jan.1980 to Dec.1984 he was a Tutor in Neurosurgery Department at LTMGH & LTMMC.
Dr. Prakash Modha passed M.Ch. (Neurosurgery) from Bombay University in 1984 and stood First in Bombay University in M. Ch. (Neurosurgery). From Jan.1986 to Dec.1986 he was the Registrar at the Newcastle General Hospital - Newcastle upon Tyne - UK. He was the Research Registrar at the University of Newcastle upon Tyne – UK from Jan. to Jun. 1987. In the year 1988 Dr. Prakash Modha completed his M. Phil. in Neurosurgery from the University of Newcastle upon Tyne – UK and was the First Asian to get M. Phil. from University of Newcastle upon Tyne - UK. The topic of his Thesis was Intracranial Pressure, Cerebral Oedema and Ischemia with Intracranial Haematoma.
In the year 1989 Dr. Prakash Modha reached Rajkot and started his practice in Neurosurgery along with Dr. D. P. Dholakiya and also at Unique Hospital, Rajkot. On June 26, 1991 Gokul Hospital and Trauma Centre was initiated through the efforts of Dr. Prakash Modha. Under his profound and experienced leadership the hospital saw a humble beginning and had a steady growth towards excellence. Initially the hospital had super specialty services for Neurosurgery and Trauma on full time basis and there were specialist consultants visiting the hospital for Orthopedics, Oncology, ENT, Ophthalmology, Chest Medicine, etc.
In September 2000 the 9th National Neuro-Trauma Conference was held at Rajkot through the Patronage of Dr. Prakash Modha and under the aegis of Gokul Hospital and Trauma Centre. The conference had 300 delegates from all over India and also from USA, UK, Bulgaria, Netherlands, Germany, Hungary, Japan, Pakistan, Bangladesh, etc.
In November 2006, Shree Gokul Critical Care Unit and Hospital was launched with specialized Intensive Care Units and High Dependency Units with 24/7 support by Intensive Care Specialists. The 8th Annual National Conference of Neuro Spinal Surgeons Foundation of India known as ‘Spine 2008’ was held from September 26 – 28, 2008 and around 160 delegates from all over India and from many abroad destinations visited the conference, overall the conference was a great success.
Set in the crowded area of Vidyanagar Main Road with every type of specialty and super specialty care available, Gokul Superspecialty Hospital stands out as a beacon or hospice of specialty and super specialty healthcare in the middle of the area. The hospital complex is laid out in two parts spread over some 10,000 sq ft. It is carefully planned and beautifully designed, with several departmental sections. |
