Heavy rain in the city of Vadodara has brought life at standstill since last two days. On 10th and 11th September 2014, there was abundant rain fall in Baroda City and surrounding areas. The heavy rains have brought lot of water logging in several areas of Vadodara. Aajwa reservoir due to heavy rains has crossed 215 ft level.

Heavy rains recorded in the entire history of Vadodara city has low lying areas located on the bank of river Vishwamitri have already started experiencing flood like situation. Water from Vishwamitri River gushed into the residential colony in Vadodara city on Tuesday wherein 10,000 persons have been evacuated. This time the rainfall in September 2014 has broken the earlier record of the same season July 2014, even for 2 days lots of Schools, colleges and companies have declared holiday.
It is forecasted that the city of Vadodara is expected to have light to heavy rains in the coming 24 hours but light drizzle was experienced in the evening. However, heavy rains are expected in Central and North Gujarat in the next 24 hours.
Alarming incident shocked the natives of Vadodara was that, a crocodile devoured a lady in this heavy rains. It is therefore wondered whether there are going to be more such incidents of man-eating of crocodiles in the coming days and hours in the city. The Civic Administration and Municipal Authorities are expected to be more efficient and alert in safeguarding the lives of Vadodaravasis in the coming days! |
