90 Year old – Founder of AMUL – Businessman, Dr. Verghese Kurien died today (9th September) at Muljibhai Patel Urological Hospital in Nadiad.
Verghese Kurien came to Anand for study and research purpose in 1949. He actually doesn’t like to stay there much but to help a friend in his dairy business he stayed there. From there he never looked back.
Verghese Kurien Milkman of India
Verghese Kurien is founder of Amul Dairy. He was Gujarati. Amul is Asia’s largest dairy. He settled GCMMF (Gujarat Co-operative Milk Marketing Federation) in 1973 to sell dairy products. Today GCMMF sells Amul products not only in India but also overseas.
As we all know Amul is very famous for his Advertise Slogan. Amul Slogan has made it to record its name in Guinness Book of World Records.
He made the ordinary, neighborhood ‘Doodhwala’ (milkman) a key player in the country’s struggle for economic development and progress at the grassroots level.
