Michhami Dukkadam Meaning
Word Paryushan is derived from two words, Pari + ushan which mean all kinds + to burn. Thus Paryushan means to burn (shed) our all types of karmas.
Another meaning of “ushan” is to stay closer. To stay closer and absorbed in to our own soul.
Another meaning of the word comes from Pari + upshamana, where upshamana means to suppress, to suppress our passions (kashayas – anger, ego, deceit and greed) from all directions.
Michhami Dukkadam Jain 2012
Kshamavani or Forgiveness Day is a day of forgiving and seeking forgiveness for the followers of Jainism. It is celebrated on the Samvatsari, the last day of the annual Jain Festival Paryusana.
On this day, Jains request forgiveness from each other for all offences committed. The phrase is also used when a person makes a mistake, or recollects making one in everyday life, or when asking for forgiveness in advance for inadvertent ones.
The Sanskrit version of the phrase is mithya me dushkritaam meaning "may the evil of it be in vain" or simply put "May my misdeeds be undone."
