Calico Textile Museum of Ahmedabad
Yes, unlike a historical museum, one may find here no fossils or skeletons, but one can surely walk down the path of evolution of the fabric from the time it was crudely unraveled from the charkha manually. Apart from attracting the tourists from different corners of the world, this museum is a knowledge hub for enthusiasts who wish to learn about different textiles and fabrics commonly printed, tied and dyed and patterned and embroidered in different corners of the country at different times of generations. Jain art and South Indian bronze works are also on display.
The lighting used inside the gallery is subdued following the advice of the conservation experts. The galleries remain open on all days of the week except for Wednesdays and public holidays. The entry is free of charge. Illustrated catalogues are displayed with stickers for reference by the visitors.
The museum is located in Ahmedabad and is hence, very accessible from all corners of the city.
