The Kalpasar Project of Gujarat - Sweet Water Lake Gujarat
Water, which flows freely in nature, is one of the very rare commodities for the people who live in cities as well as in villages. Water scarcity is a problem faced by many in India and Gujarat too is not an exception.
In order to deal with the situation of water shortage, The Kalpasar Project of Gujarat was launched. The proposed structure is of a dam, which will be built across the Gulf of Khambhat will use the high-energy tidal waves in order to form a reservoir of water. The water can then be utilized for farming, irrigation, industrial and domestic purposes too.
Kalpasar Project Status:
Over the years, various governments have come and gone. However, none of them could successfully launch The Project Kalpasar Gujarat.
It was the Modi Government under whose strong sense of governing made it possible for this grand project to get over by 2013 after subsequent delays and hitches. In the current form, the use of tidal water force is no longer the idea behind The Kalpasar Project. In fact, only the fresh water reservoir is what will be made in the project.

A UNDP Expert in 1975 by the name Mr. Eric Wilson had identified the area around the Gulf of Khambhat as an area where the tidal power was at its maximum and therefore could be put to good use. There is also a proposal to build a ten-lane road over the dam that will link the area of Saurashtra and South of Gujarat and the road will reduce the amount of traveling as well as the problem of traffic congestion largely.
